REGCHARLES Coporate Social Responsibilities (CSR)

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate social responsibility (CSR, also called corporate conscience, corporate citizenship, social performance, or sustainable responsible business/ Responsible Business) as a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into abusiness model. CSR policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and internationalmorms.

In some models, a firm's implementation of CSR goes beyond compliance and engages in "actions that appear to further some social good, beyond the interests of the firm and that which is required by law." CSR is a process with the aim to embrace responsibility for the company's actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere who may also be considered as stakeholders.

The term "corporate social responsibility" came into common use in the late 1960s and early 1970s after many multinational corporations formed the term stakeholder, meaning those on whom an organization's activities have an impact. It was used to describe corporate owners beyond shareholders as a result of an influential book by R. Edward Freeman, Strategic management: a stakeholder approach in 1984.

The key drivers for CSR are:
i)Enlightened self-interest - creating a synergy of ethics, a cohesive society and a sustainable global economy where markets, labour and communities are able to function well together.
ii) Social investment - contributing to physical infrastructure and social capital is
increasingly seen as a necessary part of doing business.
iii) Transparency and trust - business has low ratings of trust in public perception. There is increasing expectation that companies will be more open, more accountable and be prepared to report publicly on their performance in social and environmental arenas.

RegCharles Finance and Capital Limited CSR Initiative

RegCharles Finance and Capital Limited as an Impact investing organization, primarily distinguishes our intention to address social and environmental challenges through our deployment of capital. For example, criteria to evaluate the positive social and/or environmental outcomes of investments are an integral component of our investment process. The RFCNG CSR Initiative is a move towards achieving more impactful development socially and environmentally for global good. Our CSR strategy focuses on four major pillars:

      •  Community Development

      •  Health

      •  Environment

      •  Gender /Youth Empowerment

      •  Staff empowerment Initiative.

In July 2013, we launched the RFCNG BOP Partnership Initiative, with $20 thousand US dollars and a commitment to address needs beyond those near the vicinity of our operations, focusing particularly on empowering the bottom of the pyramid groups; which are the market women, Artisans, young entrepreneurs that lack basic education. Etc

Following the RFCNG BOP Partnership Initiative model, we are working to promote robust micro, small and medium-size businesses  outside our scope of services. For example,  petty traders, teenage hawkers etc. for poverty alleviation, economic empowerment for a sustainable economic growth.
